Interview With a Pioneering Hair Transplant Doctor

December 23rd, 2009 admin No comments

Hair transplant surgery was introduced in the United States by Dr. Norman Orentreich in 1959. He demonstrated that hair taken from one area of the scalp would continue to grow even if it were transplanted to a balding area of the head.

The problem with this scientific breakthrough was that hair was being transplanted in clumps or “plugs” that did not appear natural. And although patients were indeed growing hair on what was once a balding pate, the appearance was akin to that of a doll’s head and hardly much of a cosmetic improvement for their baldness.

In 1995, Drs. Bernstein and Rassman presented a paper describing a new procedure called “Follicular Unit Transplantation” or FUT. In this new hair transplant technique, hair would be transplanted using only naturally occurring, individual units of 1, 2, 3 or 4 follicles. These perfectly intact “follicular units” would be obtained by removing a single, thin strip of skin from the back of the scalp and then using a dissecting stereo-microscope to isolate the tiny naturally occurring groups of hair.

Since the publication of “Follicular Unit Transplantation” hair transplant surgery has undergone an “extreme makeover” itself, in part due do to the incredibly natural results that this powerful procedure can produce. FUT is now considered to be the state-of-the-art in surgical hair restoration and is currently the most widely used hair transplant technique.

Robert M. Bernstein M. D. , an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University in New York, sat with us for a Q & A on hair transplantation and its future. How are hair follicles removed in Follicular Unit Transplantation?

In order to safely remove and preserve the Follicular Units without causing any damage to them, the donor tissue is removed in one thin piece. This technique is called Single Strip Harvesting and it is an essential component of follicular unit transplantation. How many grafts should be transplanted at once?

The average session for a moderately bald person, who has lost most of the hair on the top of his scalp is around 2,500 grafts. Although it is best to complete the hair restoration in as few large sessions as possible, there are limits. When too large a strip is removed, it can cause undue tension in the donor area and cause a stretched scar or loss of hair. An excessively long procedure, that keeps the grafts outside the body for an extended period of time, may compromise graft survival.

Another issue with very large sessions is that a hair transplant doctor has less flexibility if problems arise during the surgery. Patient variability is an intrinsic part of hair transplantation. In some patients, the grafts tend to pop up above the skin surface as they are inserted into the scalp. Popping also occurs when a graft placed in the skin causes an adjacent one to lift. The closer you put the grafts and the more grafts you transplant at one time, the greater the chance that these problems will occur and the more difficult they will be to manage. The goal is to always maximize what you get from the back and what grows in the front and top. It’s not a race where we have to do 3,000 or 4,000 grafts in every patient. When I hear people say, “Oh, I had 5,000 grafts. ” I think “How many of those actually grew?”Is a Hair Transplant Permanent?

Yes, the hair on the back and sides of the scalp is permanent and it retains this characteristic even when moved to the front and top of the scalp. Will the Transplanted Hair Change over Time?

The genetic tendency of hair to grow is dependent upon the donor area where the hair comes from. We call this “donor dominance”. However, the character of the hair, the wave, the rate of growth, is affected by the area where it is transplanted into. For example: we discovered that when we take scalp hair and transplant it to the eyebrows, over time, the growth rate actually slows down to match the growth of eyebrows. In this case, the recipient area has an influence on the growth of the eyebrow hair. Can you take hair from someone else and transplant it on your own head?

You cannot transplant hair from someone else. It has to be your own hair or it will be rejected by the body. What is the Future of Hair Transplantation?

The next big improvement to the field of surgical hair restoration will be hair multiplication – commonly, but erroneously referred to as hair cloning. This technique will dramatically increase a person’s limited donor supply, an issue that frustrates many patients wanting hair restoration.

The mechanism for cloning is based on the multiplication of the cells that surround a hair follicle. These cells, called fibroblasts are readily multiplied outside the body. Once multiplied, the “fibroblasts” could be injected into the skin to induce hairs to form. The problem is that when you multiply these fibroblasts, they lose their ability to stimulate hair to grow – a major roadblock that still needs to be overcome.

Another concern with hair cloning is that if you’re inducing hair to grow, what will it look like? Is it going to be wild and uncontrollably wiry? Will it look like the person’s normal hair? Because the recipient area plays a factor in the way a follicle grows, it’s reasonable to assume that even if you inject these fibroblasts to induce a hair to form, that hair will start to take on the characteristics of a person’s original hair.

It is exciting to think of the possibilities that improvements in science will afford to those suffering from the effects of hair loss. Perhaps someday any baldness in men and women will be a result of choice and not a genetic constraint, but will unlikely be available for at least 5-10 years.

Teryl Resources Working With Closeology and Superlatives

December 8th, 2009 admin No comments

September 24, 2007

Teryl Resources Corp. (TSXV: TRC) operates within the intelligent realm of closeology and superlatives in Alaska and Arizona. By closeology I mean, of course, that the company is exploring for gold and copper very close to existing or previously producing mines. By “superlative” I mean that these mines are exceptionally large and profitable.

At Gold Hill, for example, Teryl is drilling three targets just three miles away from Phelps Dodge Corp. ’s Lavender Pit. If you know mining or tourism, then you know that Lavender Pit was one of the biggest mines in the world. Between 1954 and 1970, Phelps Dodge extracted 75 million tons of gold, copper and silver ore from this open pit mine of giant proportions. Check out the satellite photographs on Google – it’s a sight to behold.

At Lavender Pit, mineralization was low-grade disseminated chalcocite with local spots of other copper and zinc sulfides. The deposit evenly blanketed the area in a brecciated intrusive porphyry plug adjoining altered Paleozoic limestones along the Dividend fault. Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. has fired up the drills at Lavender Pit again due to the historically high copper prices caused by the present superbull in mineral commodities. Freeport-McMoRan paid $26 Billion for Philips Dodge in March this year.

At this stage, it may be difficult to say that the mineralization at Gold Hill is the same or similar geological structure to Lavender Pit or the large low-grade Cochise Project area – hence the current drill program. As well, Teryl announced in April that it had purchased aeromagnetic data for the project area, and that the information from that lead to a recommendation of an induced polarization survey, to test for the presence of disseminated sulphides at depth.

To date, rock samples collected on the property have indicated mineralization up to 2. 54% copper. According to Teryl Resources’ president and CEO, John Robertson, drilling is to commence “soon this year – as soon as a drill is available. ” John told me this when we met recently for coffee to discuss Teryl’s upcoming growth strategy.

The theme of superlatives continues in Alaska, where Teryl has options on several properties, including a 20% interest (Kinross Gold holds the other 80%) on the Gil Claims. The Gil property covers 2,700 hectares and is actually adjacent to the Fort Knox Deposit – Kinross Gold’s operating mine, whish is the largest gold mine in Alaska. The True North Mine, also operated by Kinross, is less than 10 miles away.

John says, “The key to these mining properties is infrastructure. Not only the infrastructure, but the accessibility. For example, Global Gold is going to spend $2 billion to put their mine into production because the infrastructure’s not there. This property is right off the highway. The workers can stay in Fairbanks. ”

According to Kinross’ technical report, the Fort Knox area has been actively explored for placer gold deposits since 1902, when Felix Pedro discovered gold in Fish Creek located downstream of the Fort Knox deposit. Since that initial discovery, the Fairbanks Mining district has produced in excess of 8 million ounces of gold.

Teryl Resources acquired the Gil claims in 1989, and in 1991 entered into a joint venture with Fairbanks Gold Mining Incorporated (FGMI) and Melba Creek Mining Company

Inc. (MCMI). Fairbanks Gold Corporation was subsequently acquired by Amax Gold, Cyprus Amax, and finally Kinross Gold. FGMI and MCMI are both wholly owned subsidiaries of Kinross Gold. As such, one wonders about the fate of Teryl Resources with a partner such as Kinross so close and so hungry for talent and resources. By way of comparison, consider that Kinross’ nearby True North gold deposit (located two miles north of Teryl’s West Ridge property) was purchased by Kinross in 1999 for $94 million in cash and stock.

With the development of the nearby Fort Knox mine beginning in the early 90s, continued exploration of the Gil claims was a natural progression for both Kinross and Teryl. On the Main Gil and Gil North Zones, exploration identified widespread structurally-controlled gold mineralization. Extensive drilling, sampling, and trenching between 1992 and 2004 also defined the extent of gold mineralization in these areas and developed numerous exploration targets.

In 1999, Kinross Gold and Teryl Resources announced a preliminary, non-43-101 compliant resource calculation for the Gil project. Indicated and inferred resources were estimated at 10. 7 million tons grading 0. 040 ounces per ton gold – 433,400 ounces. That is at present very liberally valued at $60 million in-situ (in the ground), or $1. 50 per share. Last time I looked, which was the morning of September 24th, Teryl was trading at $0. 17. Of course, when I say “in-situ”, I mean there are millions in costs associated with bringing any mineral resource to production.

In this case, however, it behooves us to point out that having Kinross as a partner will actually save Teryl millions in costs, should any future resource be brought to production: Kinross has a large mill already onsite with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per day. All the infrastructure such as roads, accommodations, utilities, etc. , are in place at Gil.

John commented on the importance of the Gil project to both Teryl and Kinross: “The stage we’re at with Kinross Gold is they’re evaluating the property for additional targets to be drilled next year. There’s a possibility of drilling this year which depends on availability of drill rigs and getting their budget approved.

“Kinross is aggressively seeking additional ore to feed its Fort Knox mill. What we want to do now is increase the tonnage. There’s a possibility of the zone extending further to the north and maybe to the east as well. If we can increase the reserves to 1 million ounces gold, it would be worth it for them to ship it to their nearby mill. ”

Killing the Cravings With One Week of Low-carb, Whole Grain Living

November 26th, 2009 admin No comments

Do you have intense food cravings even when you’re not hungry? Sometimes such cravings can be attributed to “emotional eating,” but sometimes cravings happen even when you’re feeling emotionally and spiritually balanced. You feel like you could eat your way through a six-line buffet and then stop for ice cream on the way home. My experience, and that of my clients, is that cravings are caused by eating carbohydrates, especially sugar, and often bread or pasta. As Jacque said about the intensity of her cravings, “Heaven help the poor sucker who gets between me and that brownie. ”Some who have tried the high-protein/low-carb diets report that the greatest appeal is the decrease in cravings. Yet some of these diets just go against common sense. Don’t tell me that I shouldn’t have an apple and can eat all the pork chops I want. I’m sorry, that just defies logic. To help kill the cravings, I created a week-long, low carb, whole grain diet that I call the I-Week diet. You get great nutrition for few calories, and have a diet that makes complete sense and is easy to accommodate. You eat very simply. There are other benefits to the I-Week diet, too, including losing a couple of pounds without counting calories and while managing your energy level. And you will find these low carb, whole grain changes easy to accommodate at restaurants and most gatherings. The basis of the diet is that you eat all the low carb (non-starchy) vegetables, fruit, lean protein, and whole grain brown rice (or, possibly, other whole grains, if you choose) that you want. Have starchy vegetables and olive oil in moderation. Eliminate all sugar and flour, and watch your cravings disappear along with it. There are some variables that you will decide—how much dairy, processed food, and other whole grains to include. When I practice this diet, I try to eliminate dairy and processed food because a primary benefit for me is managing my energy level along with my cravings. You can get more guidelines and recipes for low carb, whole grain, craving-curbing eating by visiting http://www. reasonablediet. com/i-week. There you can also find out why I call it the I-Week diet. Whether you follow the plan or not, you will enjoy these low carb, whole grain recipes that many reasonable dieters incorporate into their routine even after their I-Week diet. —Baked Whole Grain Brown RiceI didn’t cook much brown rice when it required hours of pot-watching. Then I discovered this. Extremely simple, it gives the whole grain rice a great texture and nutty flavor. 1 1/2 cups whole grain brown rice, uncooked2 1/2 cups water1 tsp. salt1 Tbs. olive oil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine ingredients in an eight inch covered baking dish, or a baking dish tightly covered with aluminum foil. Bake for one hour. Remove from oven and if not serving immediately, place rice in colander and rinse with cold water. Drain. Rice can be stored in refrigerator for up to one week or frozen in individual servings and reheated in microwave. Since the whole grain brown rice might be the only grain you’re having, you’ll find yourself craving it often (but hopefully not craving any of the bad stuff!). Following are two very simple recipes. —Quick Rice and Beans1/4 cup baked whole grain brown rice, prepared1/2 cup beans1 dash hot sauce, to taste   Combine ingredients in a non stick skillet and heat through. Optional additional ingredients: onions, peppers, tomatoes, eggs, broccoli, spinach or other vegetables. —Sweet Spiced Rice1/2 cup baked whole grain brown rice prepared1/2 cup soy milk1 pinch cinnamon1/2 pinch nutmeg2 Tbs. dried cranberries   Combine all ingredients in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Simmer until all soy milk is absorbed. Replace the cranberries with raisins with other dried or fresh fruit (such as 1/2 cup apple or banana slices). Add a low carb sweetener of your choice to taste (Splenda, Nutrisweet, etc. ), if desired. Most meals on the I-Week diet will be centered around vegetables, which are the ultimate low carb foods, whether they be salads, vegetable soup, stir fry, or roasted vegetables. Then add the whole grain rice and some lean protein to any of these to make it a meal. Primarily, your lean protein will include baked, grilled, broiled, boiled or canned chicken, fish or seafood. It can also include tofu, beans or eggs. (You can combine egg whites with whole eggs to keep the calorie count lower. ) Think of beans first, since they offer the most nutrients for the fewest calories. All of these selections are naturally low carb. I bake chicken and tofu at the beginning of the week. I open two cans of beans (black, pinto, kidney, garbanzo or cannellini beans), rinse and drain them, and store them in my refrigerator. If you’re eating at a restaurant, you can usually find a simple lean protein and vegetable of some sort, and whole grain brown rice is often available. Think ahead and decide if you want to have a bowl of soup before you go, so that you’re not too hungry when the bread arrives and can resist the carb-induced cravings. There are two keys to making the I-Week Diet work for you. One is preparation. Have the basics prepared in advance. The other is acceptance. Remember that your commitment is just for one week so that you can truly enjoy no cravings and bring your thinking and relationship with food back into perspective. When food is this simple, it takes a lot of the romance, and consequently the craving, out of it. That can be a good thing. At http://www. reasonablediet. com/iweek you’ll find recipes, menu plans, and ideas about how to follow up the I-Week diet so that you can retain the sense of serenity you enjoyed while eating in this wholesome, simple, low carb, whole grain way.

LATITUDE 28 MAKES A DEBUT AT INDIA ART SUMMIT WITH VIETNAMESE ARTISTS AND A BARODA FLAVOUR

November 18th, 2009 admin No comments

Latitude 28 Stall no. A04, Hall no. 7, India Art summit, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. From - August 19, 2009 to August 22, 2009. All set to make a splash in the second edition of India Art Summit, art curator and historian Bhavna Kakar brings forth an eclectic mix of artists under her new art venture Latitude 28. With an art education background from Baroda, it was expected that the curator-turned-gallerist would choose to represent some of the most interesting young Baroda artists during her first-time participation in the summit Baroda apart, what gives this exhibit a special place at the Summit is that it would be the only gallery showing works of the self-confessed homosexual Bhupen Khakhar whose famed portraiture work would be on display. In addition, Latitude 28 would also be showcasing Karachi-born artist and diva Nasreen Mohamedi’s pen and ink drawings on Japanese card paper, apart from bringing to India for the first time video works of three renowned Vietnamese artists. Says Bhavna Kakar, curator & Director, Latitude 28: “India Art Summit is a wonderful platform to showcase the collection of our new venture, Latitude 28 and interact with the art fraternity. The gallery is committed to featuring evocative and challenging art in a variety of mediums and is happy to be able to introduce to the Indian art market different genres of not only Indian but international art practices. Besides showing veterans like Jogen Chowdhury, Bhupen Khakhar and Nasreen Mohamedi, our aim is to highlight new-age art by younger luminaries like Surekha and Prajjwal Choudhury. ” The artists are: Jogen Chowdhury, Bhupen Khakhar, Nasreen Mohamedi, Sonia Mehra Chawla, Prajjwal Choudhury, Rajesh Ram, Surekha, , Arunkumar HG, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Phu Nam Thuc Ha and Thi Trinh Nguyen. While both Bhupen Khakhar and Nasreen Mohamedi were associated with M. S. University, Baroda, the latter in the capacity of a teacher, the aesthetics in their work is unique to each. Honoured with the Padma Shri in 1984, Bhupen Khakhar was a self-taught artist, who quit the flourishing profession of chartered accountancy to move to Baroda, against the wishes of his family members. Despite the lack of a formal training, Khakhar started mapping his own peculiar style gorging on the kitsch aesthetic of the streets and households of Gujarat. Later, his paintings increasingly turned towards the theme of homosexuality in a largely conservative Indian society. Some of his paintings at the Summit, titled Portrait, Big Head and The Banyan Tree, unleash the artist’s mirthful take on sexuality and society. Unlike Khakhar’s bold, figurative canvases, Nasreen Mohamedi’s style is known to be subtle and abstract. Her last major exposition was at Documenta, Germany. The gallery has selected black and white geometrical drawings from Mohamedi’s body of work which beautifully complement Khakhar’s colourful palette. Born in Karachi in 1937, Nasreen was known for her Zen-like minimalist accent from the very start of her career. In the 60s and 70s, she was perhaps one of the few women in the exclusive male domain of high modernism in India striving to evolve a distinct aesthetic vocabulary of her own. She is often associated with the Minimalist artist Agnes Martin whose quality of works are defined by the pristine textural touches arranged along the gridded lines carefully drawn by hand invoking effect of hand weaving. Though much is not known about the early works of the artist who passed away in 1990, her poetic diary entries have been the main source of assimilating strands of her vision. Nasreen’s diary notes make mention of interactions with artists like V. S. Gaitonde and Tyeb Mehta at the Bhulabhai Desai Institute who made a profound impact on her.   In 1971, when she joined the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda as a teaching staff, interactions with Jeram Patel, who also in his own distinct ways was fathoming an abstract style, mustered strength for extending her own practice. Women Exposing her Teeth is the title of the work by yet another veteran Jogen Chowdhury who has been widely acknowledged as the master of the unbroken line. The figure is the prominent source of most of his works. Jogen Chowdhury’s ability to juxtapose contrary emotions, the real and imaginary and the known and unknown, make his art not only a form of self expression but a reflection of a collective and subjective consciousness. While these exclusive paintings of veterans are aimed to attract attention of avid art collectors, video works from the younger artists are equally promising. Says Bhavna Kakar:  “The videos will be showcased in the video lounge during the summit and bear a context specific to their nation. But in a global society, where each is striving for peace and progress, realizing the concerns and aesthetic idiom of this militarily stirred region becomes vital in the process. ” For instance, artist Thi Trinh Nguyen from Vietnam presents a video work titled Spring Comes Winter After 2009 that observes the funeral of Le Dat. (A Vietnamese poet who was part of a 1950s literary and intellectual movement in Northern Vietnam called ‘Nhan Van-Giai Pham’, which criticized life under communism. He was later banned from publishing for three decades, and it was not until 2007 that the Vietnamese government decided to grant him a prestigious national award in an effort to reconcile the grievances of the past. ) Explains the artist: “As the avant-garde artists like this poet were forced to be silent, Vietnamese art and literature suffered decades of decay. In this short documentary film, the camera focuses on the grief of those in attendance of the funeral of this celebrated poet, many of whom are Vietnam’s contemporary established writers and intellectuals. ” Thi’s camera however rolls time in reverse, the procession of people reverentially moving around Le Dat’s coffin depicted in rewind. This reversal of time could refer to Thi’s many interviews with Le Dat before he died where he once said that it was a common feeling among many of his generation that youth was completely lost and wasted away. By reversing time in Spring comes Winter after, Thi wishes his youth to be returned to him. Vietnamese video artists Tuan Andrew Nguyen and Phu Nam Thuc Ha create a joint video projection with the word Uh. . . written as a graffiti tag on various public walls throughout Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As passersby stroll past and traffic whizzes along the streets, a realization sinks in that being viewed is a suggestive trail that meanders across strategically focused detailed images of various government compound walls in Ho Chi Minh City. This work explores not only Vietnam’s shifting landscapes, both cultural and physical, but also questions the reality of change. Exploring the similar genre of video art is Three Fragmented Actions of Silence by Surekha that depicts an autobiographical transition from the real self to image. Divided into two horizontal frames, the top half of the video contains the artist taking out rose petals one by one from her mouth and pasting it to the actual stem, as if creating flower is a humane act. In the lower half, it is the same reverse scene in negative of eating petals, tilted up side down. The dual positive & negative image of the artist eating & recreating a flower echoes in the veiling and unveiling of her face. Her other video titled Bhagirathi Bringing Water, shot within a domestic space, transgresses to make a real, living space into immediate metaphoric artistic location. Here, the protagonist is in a bath tub and is facing the trail posed by the lonely and nostalgic camera, and desires to picturize that which was stored in the memories of one’s childhood. Apart from the video works, an interesting collage of paintings and installations by other young artists are equally noteworthy. For example, Sonia Mehra Chawla’s mixed media on canvas titled Membrane is about an ongoing debate between the individual and the constantly changing urban locations. The display of her 8. 5ft by 5ft sized work is a prelude to Sonia’s upcoming solo show in Mumbai. Her work essentially investigates and explores layers and complexities that are manifest within the urban and the biomorphic.   The forms are at once generative and sensuous, macabre and degenerate, opulent and awe-inspiring and carry within them the force of the living and the vulnerability of decay. The vein-like trees and skeletal cow in the work become a metaphor for the pain of mindless urbanization. Coming to the genre of installations, artist Arunkumar H. G’s work is a 3-feet tall Superman which he calls The Super B. Trained as a sculptor from Baroda, Arunkumar works in various disciplines, including photography and toy design. His use of readymade objects such as toys, plastic, ceramics, cow dung, hay and TV monitors gives us a glimpse of his susceptibility towards the neo-pop movement. His toy-like, yet intricate sculptural works often convey a simple message. Sometimes, however, Arunkumar switches the dynamics of this relationship, creating works that physically appear basic, but convey a complex message quite contrary to their appearance. Artist Prajjwal Choudhury in his work titled Everything has been done before, but we would like to go back and begin all over again, sets up a recycling machine apparently operating as a kinetic conditioned to reprocess and reproduce matchboxes. He says: “There will be 2000 match boxes placed inside the mixer which will be falling on a moving steel plate. All the match boxes will be accumulated together and once the mixer is empty they will go back into the mixer by vacuum process so the process of recycling begins. ” It is obvious that Prajjwal is at war with the way in which everyday objects are taken for granted. He gathers his preliminary fuel from such objects like matchboxes to engineer his thought-provoking creations. These matchboxes filled in the recycling machine carry a realistic visual appeal, but with a wry humor, deceiving the onlooker. The cover of the matchboxes carries images of the works of the world-famous artists-Andy Warhol, Picasso, Damien Hirst, Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dali, Dhruva Mistry, Jitish Kallat, Subodh Gupta and Atul Dodiya. On the other hand, Rajesh Ram aptly weaves his aesthetic configurations with deadpan satire in his work tilted Pothi padhi padhi jag muah pandit hua na koye dhai akshar prem ke pade so pandit hoye. Made out of tangible objects like books, the artist manipulates their shapes to delineate hearts accentuated from their background, enunciating the saga of love and tolerance in a bigoted society. The artist also in an uncanny way gears up to promote the national language Hindi’s proverbial bywords by stressing on its meaningful connotation. Endorse Your Favorite Movies With Free Smileys; Here’s How

November 17th, 2009 admin No comments

Contrary to what most people believed, promoting free smileys on the internet is tough job; in fact, it’s Herculean task.   These cute animated free smileys may be popular, but from the point of view of an internet marketer, this popularity is in itself the core of the marketing challenge.   Try searching the more popular search engine for “free smileys” and your eyes would pop on 635,000 search engine results.   To scale the summit of a search engine’s top page, getting passed this huge number of competitors, one has to find a strategy that is “attention-friendly”; something that appeals not just to his niche, but impacts other online users, as well.
The movies!
Ride to Fame
Not to be outclassed or outlived by the media’s frenzy over the multi-million gross receipts of “Dark Knight”, a company that creates free smileys published online its free smileys versions of Batman and the Joker , making sure that its online users will have something to capture the movie with; a special free smiley icon that they can send in their emails or decorate the pages of their MySpace  and Friendster accounts, or have something to remember by the brilliant performance of its fallen star, Heath Ledger, for months or even years after the movie has retired on DVD.   A smart idea.   What do you think?
And it seems not enough.   Recently, another smiley came up online; an unlikely hero, but has definitely captured moviegoers’ hearts when it was first shown in theaters worldwide.   Proof was its million-dollar receipts that catapulted it to one of Hollywood’s top grosser’s list in 2004:  Hellboy.
“Hellboy” caught Hollywood by surprise; and if all surprises could mean millions of revenues, producers would not mind coming up with a sequel, and that’s exactly what happened.
Hellboy 2 (The Golden Army) debuted in theaters last week with $35. 9 million in gross receipts. Owing to the public’s show of keen enthusiasm towards Hollywood’s latest movie release, smiley illustrators were quick to go back to the drawing board and came up with their latest edition of this Hollywood- inspired red-skinned hero from the abyss.   That’s literally and figuratively-speaking “striking the iron while it’s hot” (as hell).
Smart Move
James Schmidt explains that his company strives to empower personal communication via emails and social networking sites, such as MySpace and Friendster, by creating innovative and trendy free smileys that motivate, inspire and entertain. Everything redounds on giving online users what they want to share, and seemingly blockbuster movies and TV programs appeal to most of them.
In Good Company
As more and more new trends of free smileys are recently added on the internet, there is this brand of free smiley that is cuter, more vibrant and a total runaway winner:  Oprah Free Smiley.   Search for it.
Oprah Smiley became an instant hit as who would not recognize her, or remember her couch? It was not too long ago when a very famous celebrity pranced on her show’s couch while professing his love to his new wife now, before Oprah’s stunned audience, and equally surprised TV viewers. That show of affection was one for a Danielle Steele’s paperback, while Oprah made it to free smileys’ featured hits.
Now the “battle” rages on: which one would be internet’s top grossing downloadable Hollywood free smiley or emoticon?  Oprah, Hellboy or “Dark Knight”?
When dust settles back on the ground, one thing remains certain:  hitching a marketing strategy on events, such as Hollywood’s blockbusters’ showdown, can be a big hit for website traffic.   Don’t miss it!

Unwrapping the Mystery - as We Get Personal With the Stig (personalised Gifts)

November 15th, 2009 admin No comments

Have you ever wondered about the mysterious identity of the Stig? This legendary masked racing driver of the long series of Top Gear is known for his performance at the wheel of a car, but little else. He never speaks, never goes out of his helmet. The only thing really known about this truly mysterious character is that he is probably one of the presenters of the television program. For those who have no idea what is happening is a good idea to recap and review the history of this legendary and talented. The name of this character is apparently eclipsed the school day presenter Jeremy Clarkson, in his first incarnation, the Stig seemed totally in black: black suit, black helmet and totally unidentifiably. It is not a personal thing in a way that would give his identity. The Stig has also appeared as a white man, dressed in overalls and a new helmet to conceal his identity. This person has done more than a car through a part of Top Gear Power Lap of the issue, but again we do not know who he is because nothing is given away. In his exploits, the hidden factor actually learned to drive around London and, as part of the challenge we had to take the bus, pick up the phone and even use an Oyster card. The Stig has also appeared in other time slots Top Gear titles as Heaven and Hell and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Obviously, this unknown individual is a man with a gift. Interestingly, the Stig has also made a series of brief appearances on television and fans of Top Gear May and recalled that during the third episode of Nine - you know, is the show where the presenters take a little vacation and drive a selection of U.S. brand cars a total of four states. Well, it was during this episode that was introduced Big Stig - is apparently the cousin Stig of the United States. He appeared in episode four of the ten rounds and, nicknamed The Stig's African cousin, took part in a performance test of three different cars in Botswana in a dress that left little to the imagination - a Except, of course, the identity. It is not really surprising that the man behind the mask? To know the person behind the driver of classic cars such as Aston Martin V8 Vantage and BMW M6? Maybe you know that even someone who would be this character, and this would not be surprising that the evidence could be presented to show that the man in her life - a friend, family member, or even be liked - was in fact the driving this super-hero? If this is the case, then why not someone in the lineup of The Stig 'Top Gear custom? Available in yellow or red or bold running, these amazing personalized gifts can be personalized with any name you choose and confirm - without a shadow of doubt - the identity of the Stig. Of approximately 297 mm x 420 mm and framed in black, this display is a real reproduction of the famous photo of Top Gear magazine, and is certainly proof enough for everyone? A poster shows the surprising Stig a dramatic pose, arms crossed and looking the business, while the other sees, looking relaxed - After the race, perhaps - lying on the seat of his car. Whatever you choose personalized gifts posters fine, just make sure the person buying non-control of some of the options in the car listening Stig. Top Gear fans probably already know some of Stig drive the timing, and while language training courses are well - while keeping eyes on the road - the selection of power ballads and easy listening track are a bit odd more debatable. Or maybe it's your kind of music too? If, to paraphrase the artist Meatloaf large unit of time - you would do anything for love, if so, why not ride shotgun with the man who unveiled as The Stig, sit press play and enjoy the ride. Just make sure that does not accelerate like a Bat Out of Hell - otherwise it might be prudent to adhere to the French rather than tapes.
