Situated between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific in a geographically misunderstood region of the world called Oceania, Australia is a continent nearly twice the size of Europe and as an independent nation, composed of six states and two territories. The literal continental size of the country, the journey that is diverse and exhilarating without the hassle of crossing the border is never alone! Australia has been inhabited for about 45,000 years, with the first recorded encounter with the European masses before 1606. Denali National Park in Alaska - 2006 Travel

September 9th, 2009 admin No comments

The best visits I experienced was this year during a recent trip to Denali National Park in Alaska. I would not have expected a better time, opportunities for wildlife viewing or friends to share with everyone. Our accommodations at the Denali Princess Hotel were fantastic.
This fall, I was fortunate to receive a call from my brother, a budding photographer. He had just won a Fall Drive In enabled Denali National Park. They are issued by lottery and only a limited number of drivers to enter the fleet. There are only four days throughout the year that can be done. I was delighted, thrilled and looking forward to my adventure of a lifetime.
We entered the park from Alaska at 4:30 am so that we can beat the other drivers and do a step called polychrome for sunrise. Painted takes its name from a multitude of colors displayed in all its layers of rock. Normally this is a site, but the sunrise was absolutely incredible. We were also able to catch a great opportunity to see Mount McKinley at sunrise. There were a few people to do and has really been a wonderful experience of Alaska.
Then we could see up close the wildlife. We fell in three brown bears, a mother and her two cubs. They were eating berries off the coast road. Around the corner we found a pack of wolves. They just spent hunting and go directly to your blind brown bears. We had to turn around to see this incredible game and I'm glad he did.
Like wolves, brown bears approached they let their presence known. They surrounded the bears and was constantly in close and confined to a safe distance while trying to hunt bears outside its territory. The bear's mother was a little worried because their young age. She remained standing on its hind legs to see over the vegetation and follow what wolves do not. Of course, this led to many photo shoots. Finally, after an hour or so of the bears came and went from the mountain to the valley below.
We continued our walk back in Denali National Park until the end of the road. About 90 miles behind, is Wonder Lake. Alaska has many beautiful lakes, but it was just unbelievable. The water was clear and calm, you could see the reflection of Mount McKinley, if you look in a mirror. We spent some time removing the little park there and then started our return journey.
On the way back we saw several years of moose. This time of year in Alaska moose are in rut and you find a lot of Moose ready to compete for females. We only saw a little of confrontation between the moose, but we saw several Moose with racks that must have measured over 60 inches wide. It is quite impressive on all accounts.
We met several Alaskan Dall sheep, grizzly bear more than a beaver, spruce hens, a hawk and a lot of ground squirrels. The fall colors were out, the sky was blue and was certainly once in a life trip through Denali National Park in Alaska. In my opinion, worth the cost of travel in Alaska.
